The Plus-3 Rule Will Change the Way You Dress Forever

The Plus-3 Rule Will Change the Way You Dress Forever

There are many mornings where I’ve examined my outfit within the mirror, only to understand it’s missing…um…something. More often than not, the answer involves swapping out my shoes or adding a couple of key accessories (and now, celebrities have convinced me it’s worth coordinating my mask, too). Still, I’ve definitely gone overboard at the time, adding one too many extras, causing me to wonder: is there a trick that ensures you will always find that happy medium.

Looking at street style images, I discovered there was, indeed, a well-liked yet subtle fashion formula, which I’ve since named the ‘Plus-3 Rule.’ Unlike other hacks out there that count the precise number of pieces to feature to your look, this one focuses only on the statement-making additions (accessories, shoes, and layers) that take your outfit to an entirely new level.

For example, for instance, you’re wearing a basic black dress and straightforward black slides. Alone, that combo might sound unexciting. However, with the Plus-3 Rule, you’ll add a shiny pendant necklace, a belt, and a floppy hat — three pieces that might all be eye-catching on their own. you’ll also take a special route. By following an equivalent rule, you would possibly trade out your slides, which otherwise blend in together with your outfit, and wear red heels instead. in situ of the belt and hat, a fuzzy cardigan and a silk scarf would have an identical, fashion-forward effect.

The way I describe the tactic in my head is ‘Bam, bam, bam,’ noting the three pieces that my eyes gravitate to first. But, it is best to elucidate it through photos. Ahead, take a glance at some outfits that incorporate the Plus-3 Rule.

We already know that blazers have the facility to rework a glance, and during this case, the gold earrings really stand out against the dark colors. Black boots would are the more predictable route, but instead, she opted for a metallic pair, providing that third and final statement.

With this rule, I also ignore the pieces that do not necessarily make or break the outfit. So, albeit the bag and glasses are a pleasant touch, without them, it might still be even as fun.

Without accessories, this look is actually a white button-d0wn, jeans, and sneakers — a tried and true classic. it is the three accessories that basically turn it into something playful and modern.

Normally, I would not include a bag during this rule, since it’s possible you will not be carrying it all day long. But, the green design does add that tiny splash of color and therefore the scarf also adds a singular twist. The third ‘bam’ during this case are the earrings, which add the ultimate, dainty touch.

Despite the very fact that this outfit includes quite three accessories, these are the pieces that immediately command your attention and pack a punch. The blue shoes also make it all the more special.

For me, it is often tricky to decorate on warm days — less tends to be more, especially when you’re trying to remain cool. But, a couple of small additions, like clear glasses (which are often worn indoors!), a bold earring, and a colorful shoe, makes all the difference.

It’s the colorful and glossy pieces that basically wowed this point around, spicing up the essential t-shirt and skirt combo.

Although these glasses really pop, once they are available off indoors, the key pieces of this ensemble are going to be the necklace, the shoes, and therefore the light pink blazer.

The layered necklaces act as one, attention-grabbing piece, so I’m counting them together item. Plus, without the massive earrings and therefore the vest, the outfit would be rather simple.

Here, it’s about what you’d notice from distant. The hat, of course, stands out, and therefore the Y-necklace provides a pleasant contrast against the white shirt. the ultimate detail is that the ankle socks, which quickly change up the design and provides it a 2020 spin.
